Question

Does the Accelerator degrade photos people send to me through email?

  Answer

The Accelerator will not degrade image quality on images sent as an attachment to an email, but the Accelerator will degrade images that can be viewed within the body of an HTML formatted email. In other words, if you open an attached photo of your child, the image quality will not degrade, even if the photo is automatically displayed in the email. If you open an email that has images within the body of the email, the Accelerator will degrade these images. These images are being displayed from a URL within the HTML and are being served from a Web server. They are not attached as files. This type of email is most often ads.

There is no Refresh with Full Quality menu item in email programs. If you want to view the original image quality, you need to save the email as an HTML file by selecting File, then choosing Save As. Double-click the filename to view the file in Internet Explorer. Right-click the image, then select Refresh with Full Quality.
